Longar Out Indefinitely with Leg Injury
Oklahoma senior center Longar Longar will be out indefinitely after breaking a bone in his right leg in a loss to Texas A&M last weekend. He missed tonight's loss at home to Texas. "I can't tell you when he's coming back because it depends on how quickly it heals," head coach Jeff Capel said. "Mother Nature has something to do with it. There's not much treatment you can do for a broken bone." Capel also added that Longar suffered the injury within the first three minutes against A&M, but played 13 additional minutes until he was unable to continue.
There is a chance that Longar will miss the rest of the season, but OU is hopeful he will be able to return. "It is what it is. You have to find a way. That's the way of life," Capel said. "Everything in life doesn't go the way you plan it. You have to find a way to be successful, and we'll find a way." Longar is the team's second-leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Without him, the Sooners are down to just two post players, brothers Taylor and Blake Griffin. "I don't make excuses," Capel said. "We have to figure out a way, and we will figure out a way."
