Andre Allen Suspended, Won't Play Saturday
Memphis senior point guard Andre Allen was suspended Wednesday night and did not make the trip to San Antonio for the Final Four. According to coach John Calipari, Allen was suspended for violating rules, but WREG-TV in Memphis reports that Allen failed a random drug test. Athletic director R.C. Johnson said Allen might not be available to play all weekend, while Calipari did not rule out the possibility Allen would be available to play Monday night should the Tigers beat UCLA on Saturday night. "Right now, we're just going to do what we're doing," Calipari said. "We'll be fine." Allen has played a key role in the past two NCAA Tournament as well as this one, serving as the back-up point guard. However, his numbers dipped this season with the arrival of stud recruit Derrick Rose. Allen averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 assists per game this season.
