Pitt's Young Likely Staying in School

According to Jeff Greer of and The Pitt News, Pittsburgh junior forward Sam Young is likely to return to the Panthers for his senior season. Said a spokesman close to the basketball program: "I'd say it's 90 percent that Sam will stay. No one here is talking about him leaving. All they're asking about is Big East Media Day." However, the spokesman said the decision by Joe Alexander of West Virginia to enter the NBA Draft could have an effect on Young's decision, as the two went to Hargrave Military Academy together and are very good friends. Young had a breakout campaign this past season, averaging 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Providence's Williams to Transfer

According to Jeff Goodman of, Providence sophomore guard Dwain Williams is leaving the Friars' program and will transfer. Williams averaged 11.0 points and 2.2 assists per game this past season, but missed the last six games of the year with an ankle injury that may require surgery. He's still on campus and taking classes, according to the Providence Journal, but the firing of coach Tim Welsh has likely made an impact on Williams' decision.
