News and notes from around the country (more to come later):

- With Monday’s shocking loss at Charleston, North Carolina is now just 1-4 away from home this season. 

- Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes that the Bearcats have the talent and pieces to match up with the rest of the Big East this season.

- Pittsburgh, which is quickly growing up, picked up its second consecutive Big East road win, this time beating Cincinnati.

- Mississippi State’s poor free-throw shooting cost them against Western Kentucky on Monday, as the Bulldogs shot just 14-of-27 in a 55-52 loss.

- William & Mary was on a 10-game winning streak. UNC-Wilmington had just lost by 34 this past weekend. When the two teams met Monday, UNCW knocked off the Tribe with a last-second tip-in.

- With its 82-60 domination of Utah State, Louisiana Tech might be the favorite in the WAC

- Former South Florida guard Jordan Dumars, son of former Detroit Pistons guard and current team president Joe Dumars, will transfer to Michigan.
