Road to Selection Sunday Update

Although Saturday's college basketball action is only a few hours old, there have been several noteworthy developments in terms of the NCAA Tournament picture.

  • Houston defeated UTEP in the Conference-USA championship game, meaning C-USA will now be a two-bid league and the Miners will now take away an at-large bid.
  • Temple blew out Rhode Island, which did not have an impressive last statement to the Selection Committee. The Rams might be out.
  • Illinois couldn't hold on in regulation or overtime to beat Ohio State, meaning the Fighting Illini will be sweating on Selection Sunday. They still will likely get in, but a win today would have clinched it. They need to hope Utah State beats New Mexico State.
  • Vermont (America East) and Morgan State (MEAC) won the automatic bids from their respective conferences.
