Derrick Jasper Sprains MCL

According to Brett Dawson of the Louisville Courier-Journal, Kentucky sophomore guard Derrick Jasper sprained the MCL in his left knee and is day-to-day. He suffered the injury in the team's win over previously unbeaten Vanderbilt today. It's the same knee that he had surgery on over the summer, which forced him to miss almost the first two months of the season. Whether he plays or not will depend on how his knee reacts to treatment. Jasper is averaging 4.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in four contests this season.
For the Wildcats' sake, hopefully Jasper is not out for an extended period of time. They picked up a potentially season-changing and momentum-building win over Vanderbilt today, and Jasper was a major factor. The 6-6 guard is long and athletic, and contributes in nearly aspect of the game. Losing him -- again -- would be a huge blow for UK, which is already without Jodie Meeks (injury) and Alex Legion (transfer) on the perimeter.
