Players that can carry their teams to a win or two:

Tre’Von Willis, UNLV: Former Memphis transfer is an explosive scorer who can also guard at the other end.

Adam Koch, Northern Iowa: The Panthers run a balanced offense, but Koch is a versatile forward who can fill it up.

Kawhi Leonard, San Diego State: An extremely underrated freshman, Leonard is averaging nearly a double-double.

Gordon Hayward, Butler: Hayward is a big-time scorer who has unlimited range on the three-point line.

Randy Culpepper, UTEP: The Miners dominated Conference-USA, and the athletic Culpepper is a main reason.

Isacc Miles, Murray State: The Racers are extremely balanced, but Miles is the best all-around player on the team.

Jordan Crawford, Xavier: The former Indiana transfer has been lighting up the scoreboard all season.

Jimmer Fredette, BYU: Fredette is known for his ridiculous scoring exploits, routinely putting up 30-plus.

Ryan Brooks, Temple: Along with Juan Fernandez and Lavoy Allen, Brooks is one of the Atlantic-10’s best players.

Ryan Wittman, Cornell: The Big Red are going to be a popular upset pick, and Wittman could carry them to a win.

Darington Hobson, New Mexico: The Evan Turner of the Mountain West, Hobson can do it all for the Lobos.

Tai Wesley, Utah State: The only thing Wesley doesn’t do his shoot threes; he can score, rebound and distribute well.

Edwin Ubiles, Siena: The Saints have five players who can fit in this category, but Ubiles is the go-to-guy for the offense.

Gerald Lee, Old Dominion: The Monarchs don’t have an explosive offense, but Lee is capable of taking over down low.

Kevin Anderson, Richmond: He and David Gonzalvez form one of the best backcourt tandems in the country.

Omar Samhan, Saint Mary’s: Samhan is one of the best big men in the nation; he is capable of putting up 20 and 10.

Players that will not last more than one round:

Jahmar Young, New Mexico State: The Aggies have a host of explosive scorers, but Young is the go-to-guy late.

Aubrey Coleman, Houston: The nation’s leading scorer has the ability to put the Cougars on his back offensively.

Marquis Blakely, Vermont: Matched-up against Wesley Johnson, Blakely will have a chance to showcase his versatility.

Keith Benson, Oakland: A future pro center, Benson will have a huge edge inside against an undersized Pitt team.

Noah Dahlman, Wofford: Arguably the best player in the Southern Conference, Dahlman is versatile offensively.

Anthony Johnson, Montana: Coming off his 42-point performance in the Big Sky title game, Johnson is hot.

Reggie Holmes, Morgan State: The veteran guard can score in bunches and is also able to contribute elsewhere, too.

  1. Randy Culpepper may be the most entertaining player to watch in the country. Dead serious on that too.

  2. Completely agree on that one...he's so explosive and is a better athlete than most people expect from a "non-BCS" school.
