Top 10 Go-to-Guys

Every national championship team has that one player that they can go to with the game on the line and he will come through in the clutch. Florida was an anomaly with balanced distribution during the Gators' back-to-back title run, but someone who can score down the stretch is an important ingredient in March. Even a team like North Carolina will plenty of weapons could let Ty Lawson beat his defender when the Tar Heels needed points. Guys that can get baskets in the closing seconds are imperative for successful teams. Here are the top-10 go-to-guys in the country.

Remember, this is NOT a ranking of the top players in the country. It is merely a ranking of dependability in crunch time.

1. Evan Turner, Ohio State: His buzzer shot to beat Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament was just a sample of what he can do.

2. Da’Sean Butler, West Virginia: Six game-winning shots this season is difficult to argue against; he’s flat-out clutch.

3. John Wall, Kentucky: One of the top playmakers in the country, Wall is always a threat to score down the stretch.

4. Sherron Collins, Kansas: Collins is extremely difficult to stop when he wants to get to the basket and finish a lay-up.

5. Scottie Reynolds, Villanova: Everyone remembers his full-length lay-up against Pittsburgh in last year’s Elite Eight.

6. Darington Hobson, New Mexico: The lefty can get into the lane on nearly any defender to get baskets as time winds down.

7. Jerome Randle, California: The jitterbug of a point guard can get into the lane or shoot threes from deep, deep range.

8. Matt Bouldin, Gonzaga: He gets the ball down the stretch for the Bulldogs. Can score in a variety of ways due to his strength.

9. Greivis Vasquez, Maryland: The energetic Vasquez is acrobatic and is not afraid to take a big shot to win the game.

10. Kalin Lucas, Michigan State: He hasn’t done it as much this season, but Lucas’ quickness is hard to corral for a defender.

  1. Kentucky has too many playmakers. Turner may be the best but Wall has help. Kentucky will be really tough to beat unless their youth makes them choke under pressure.

  2. I think Kentucky is better than Ohio State, but you can't go against Turner as the best go-to-guy in the country. He's come through so many times and flat-out put the Buckeyes on his back at times.
