Rhoomes has a favorite

At the National Prep Showcase in November, Ryan Rhoomes didn’t look like the talented big man that made him such a target in the summer of 2009.

Rhoomes was almost a shell of his former self – and he admitted it.

“I’m not as confident as I used to be,” Rhoomes said at the time, pointing to the time he spent at St. Stanislaus (Miss.) as the main factor. “I got there, and there was no basketball team. No team at all. So I didn’t play.”

Now, though, Rhoomes has a couple of months under his belt at NIA Prep (N.J.), he has begun to regain some of the confidence he used to demonstrate.

Obviously, it helps when several high-major schools are courting you.

Right now, Rhoomes has offers from Seton Hall and West Virginia, with interest from Cincinnati, Virginia, Villanova and Xavier.

He said West Virginia is his current favorite, and he plans on visiting the Morgantown campus soon.

Despite that, he’s not ready to commit anytime soon.

“Far from it,” Rhoomes said. “I don’t really have [a timeline] because I’m not sure what I want.”

When asked what he is looking for in a school, he was simple.

“Somewhere that can develop me into a better player,” Rhoomes said.

As long as they have a basketball team, of course.
